2023 Review: Year of Smart Charging for DC chargers, extensive roaming, and a lot more!

The year is ending. And here we are again, reminiscing about the year gone by, thanking each one of you, and welcoming 2024.

2023 was like a twisted roller coaster that only went up. We were buckled up and on a ride the entire year. We achieved a lot of milestones while continuing to take responsibility for helping protect the planet in our everyday lives.

We, the employees with a green heart, would like to express our gratitude to everyone who enjoyed the ride with us. Together, we are working towards the mission of sustainable mobility for all, and we are extremely proud of it.

A huge shout-out to all our clients, peers, followers, and partners for supporting us in building a sustainable future.

At the end of the year, we feel content that we did a good job and made a difference in the eMobility industry. Let us have a look at our power-packed journey:

We kept building Roam

We enabled our customers to roam with our network anytime, anywhere!

To eliminate range anxiety, our roaming network crossed over 564,000 charge points spread across Europe.

With GreenFlux's managed roaming service, our customers do not need to establish hundreds of technical connections and contracts or worry about compliance or financial settlement with any external networks. We do all that for them.

This year alone, we added around 80 partners, including Tesla Superchargers, Source London (the UK), InCharge Vattenfall (Sweden), SMATRICS EnBW (Austria), EVN (Austria), Zunder (Spain), and Connected Kerb (the UK), to name a few. And the number is constantly increasing.

Found our core with an all-new greenflux.com.

This year was a whole lot more special to us as we came closer to our core. By charting our own, we came closer to who we had been all along. And once we finally identified it, we cherished and celebrated the outcome!

We launched our all-new website, greenflux.com.

We are GreenFlux, the smart charging pioneer in the eMobility industry. Our single platform empowers the most ambitious players to face the complexity and challenges of EV charging head-on.

We welcomed new customers

We cherished our customers by helping them scale their EV charging operations and welcomed new partners.

We are proud to support EDP Comercial, a company of EDP Group, the world’s fourth-largest renewable energy producer, for the growth of its eMobility services. The company serves eMobility clients in Portugal, Spain, and Brazil and offers EMSP services to more than 50.000 EV drivers. Learn more here.

‘EDP Charge platform brings together all the experience and innovation. In this context, our partnership with GreenFlux arises to guarantee new functionalities for the eMobilty ecosystem,’ said Gonçalo Castelo Branco, Head of Smart Mobility, EDP Comercial .

We successfully onboarded Monaco energy infrastructure operator SMEG to support the growth of its eMobility offer under the “EVzen” brand. For the last 133 years, SMEG has been the Monegasque energy infrastructure operator, distributing electricity and gas. Read more here.

We expanded our customer portfolio with one of the biggest commercial parking operators in Europe, Interparking. The company operates over 400,000 customer-friendly parking spaces at strategic locations in 397 European cities.

We helped Megacharge with all its early business operations requirements. The company supports EV charge stations for GMS Group, a multi-brand network of official car dealers in Belgium, including Mercedes-Benz.

Alongside many other customers, we also welcomed Numbat towards the end of 2023. As a charge point operator, Numbat relies on a sustainable combination of high-power charging (HPC) and battery storage.

'We are thrilled to have GreenFlux as our partner, as they have a proven track record in the market with several years of experience. And they are innovative and flexible enough to support Numbat's ambitious growth path,' said Martin Schall and Maximilian Wegener, co-founders of Numbat.

Smart(er) charging for DC chargers

Marking a new milestone in our pursuit of enabling the smartest eMobility services, we introduced the world’s first large-scale, cloud-based, and hardware-agnostic smart charging algorithm for DC fast charge stations.

As a smart charging innovation leader, we were quick to identify the need for smart charging with DC fast chargers. In developing this new algorithm, we aim to provide CPOs with the necessary tools to expand their fast-charging network more quickly. The algorithm has already been incorporated into our commercial portfolio and used at scale in the market by our customers.

Plug&Charge

We did not stop the entire year in terms of our product development. We partnered with Hubject and successfully implemented its Plug&Charge technology onto our platform.

Following several tests with hardware and car manufacturers, we are now ready to deploy the feature to our CPO platform customers. CPO customers can offer the feature to their clients once the charge stations are updated with the latest firmware and the required list of certificates is in place. Find out more here.

Charge Assist 3.0

We launched Charge Assist 3.0 to serve both charge point operators and eMobility service providers by helping their drivers reach their destinations as quickly as possible. The new Charge Assist is better, smarter, and more reliable.

GreenFlux focused on the essentials in this new app i.e. finding the nearest available charge station and starting the session.

Check out its new features here.

Time of Use Tariffs

We introduced Time of Us tariffs to ensure EV drivers are encouraged to charge their cars during periods of lower demand and greater availability of renewable energy. GreenFlux's ToU feature ensures dynamic rates and fair pricing throughout the session. Plus, it enables price transparency. Find out more here.

Datacom solutions

Are you worried about disconnected chargers? With our datacom solutions, you will never lose a signal. Tailored to our customers’ geographical focus and chosen hardware for charge stations, we choose the best network solution. Read more here. Or reach out for all your concerns.

Subsidy projects

To fulfil our purpose of sustainable mobility, we bring some innovative solutions to the market via subsidy projects.

We led the way in revolutionising power distribution with our aggregated smart charging solution. By optimising power allocation and driving the adoption of renewable energy, we are effectively meeting the surging demand for EVs during peak hours. Together with INCIT-EV partners TotalEnergies and MRA-Elektrisch, we developed the innovative technology and implemented it successfully in the City of Haarlem, the Netherlands.

We collaborated on the EU-funded Progressus research project, which looked at how the greater resilience of electricity grids can contribute to decarbonization in the transport sector. The project had 22 participants, and its key findings were due by the end of 2023. The findings state that existing electricity grids “can be upgraded with intelligent management of electricity loads and sources to cope with the growing share of green energy." We are proud to share our expertise with the smart management system.
