How does roaming work?

The European markets for EVs lacks widely adopted protocols and interoperability standards for charging which hinders the development of cross-border travel of electric vehicles (also known as e-roaming).

A solution for this kind of travel has been made through the use of the Open Charge Point Interface, an open-source protocol used by roaming networks to enable EV drivers to utilize one subscription to access all participating charging infrastructures. Through this interoperability, users will only receive one bill and do not need to sign up with multiple providers.

By enabling further roaming connections, EV drivers get access to added services where they have more choice in charging stations with clear information about location, availability and tariffs contributing to less of an inconvenience with billing and payment.
